Ashley Currin pitched a complete game for the L.C. Bird Skyhawks only allowing one hit in a 4-1 defeat of the Northumberland Indians.
The Skyhawks jumped on the score board first, off of a sacrifice bunt by right fielder Becca Sprouse bringing home second baseman Jessica Gerrald to go up 1-0 heading into the second inning.
In the third inning, Nothumberland would score their only run of the game as third baseman Shannon Lewis hit a ball into right field bringing in center fielder Kristen Walker to tie the game at 1-1.
Later in the inning, Currin hit a RBI single to bring in first baseman Jamie Booterbaugh to take the lead 2-1.
L.C. Bird scored two more runs in the game.
One came from left fielder Nicole Butler who hit a triple and then stole home after a wild pitch, taking a 3-1 lead over the Indians.
The final run of the game came from L. C. Bird’s Madison Bradley.
Bradley stole home in the fifth inning off of a wild pitch thrown by the Indians increasing the Skyhawks lead to 4-1.
Currin was excellent on the mound, as she shut out the Indians the rest of the game not allowing another hit.
