Chris Ayers and Ronnie Shaban both hit two home runs as Post 137 South Richmond defeated Post 284 Pirates 19-18 at L.C. Bird on Tuesday.
With the scored tied at 18, Post 137 loaded the bases in the bottom of the ninth with one out. Tim Perry hit a sharp grounder toward third base and the throw home wasn’t in time allowing South Richmond to take the contest.
Ayers finished 3 for 6 with six RBI, three runs and a double. Ronnie Shaban was 2 for 3 with four RBI and three runs.
Jonathan Witt hit two homers for the Pirates, both coming in a nine run fourth inning that gave Post 284 a 10-5 lead. Kevin Curd and Jamie Hendrick also went yard in the inning.
Chris Hardee pitched 3 2/3 innings for Post 137 to earn the victory.
