Recognized at the region and state levels for his performance this past season, Austin Stadler has now been honored nationally.
Stadler was named to the 2008 All-USA baseball second team as a pitcher.
The team was chosen by USA Today high school sports reporter Jim Halley after talking with high school coaches and USA Today editors.
The 6-2, 185 pound lefty led James River to their second straight state Group AAA championship and earned the victory on the mound in all three games of the tournament.
Stadler was named the State and Central Region player of the year and was the co-player of the year in the Dominion District.
He is headed to play in college at Wake Forest as a pitcher and first baseman and was drafted in the 40th round by the San Francisco Giants in this year’s MLB Draft.
