Thomas Dale won its seventh straight game, knocking off Matoaca – the last team to defeat the Knights – 10-1 Tuesday evening in softball.
Sophomore pitcher Lacey Waldrop continued her stellar effort in the circle, striking out 13 batters for TD, ranked fourth in the latest DigitalSports Top 10.
Waldrop carried a no-hitter into the last inning before Erin Chaney broke it up with a single with two outs in the seventh inning for ninth-ranked Matoaca.
Dale got six hits, two from Lauryn Nanny (double, triple), as the Knights took advantage of seven Matoaca errors.
“I came out here knowing that we had lost last time,” Nanny said. “I wanted to come out here and show them that we were a force to be reckoned with.”
Freshman pitcher Melissa Skoff led Matoaca with 10 strikeouts.
