CHANTILLY – A seven-run third inning for Woodbridge halted Cosby’s dream at a state title in the state Group AAA baseball semifinals Friday at Westfield High School.
Cosby pitchers walked six batters in the inning, setting the stage for the Vikings huge frame.
The Titans blasted 11 hits, including home runs from Kyle McKay and Garrett Birnbaum in the second inning, but couldn’t score enough to offset Woodbridge’s huge inning.
The Vikings, unbeaten at 27-0, will face West Springfield, a 3-2 winner over Western Branch, Saturday at 3 p.m. for the state hardware, while Cosby (20-7) wonders about an inning with a strike zone that seemed to disappear.
